English Language Program

English Classes

Students have the option of being integrated into a regular General English program (according to level) or having their own dedicated teacher and class.  The colleges use a communicative teaching method combined with a wide range of modern materials and resources to encourage active learning.

Activities based on excursions are also included in the English program (closed class).

Teaching Staff

The Colleges we work with are NEAS accredited institutions and members of English Australia.  NEAS is Australia’s national accreditation scheme for English language teaching centres. English Australia is the peak representative association for colleges providing ELICOS.  This assures a minimum standard for all teaching staff of a Bachelor’s degree as well as a recognised English as a Second language teaching qualification such as CELTA (Cambridge Certificate of English Language Teaching to Adults).

Assessment & Certificates

All students are tested as part of the Orientation program.  Once in class, assessment is continuous and task-based.  There are no exams on completion.

To maximise class time, testing can be conducted off-shore.  Please advise us when booking.

Facilities & Services

The Colleges provide a wide range of facilities and services including:

  • City centre locations
  • Student Lounge
  • Free computer laboratories with free internet and email access
  • English library and language lab
  • Organised free sporting activities which currently include volley ball, beach volleyball and soccer.  .
  • Academic and personal counselling
  • Student recreation areas with table football, table tennis and table hockey
  • Student kitchens

Excursion Program

Our staff will work with you to design an excursion program that will combine fun and exciting activities with learning opportunities.  All groups are accompanied by a staff member and we maintain a ratio of one staff member per 20-25 students.

Some of our uniquely Australian activities include:

  • Face to face with Australia’s animal mascots at Caversham Wildlife Park!  Feed and touch kangaroos, koalas and emus.
  • Perth’s holiday island, Rottnest Island, boasts some of the finest beaches and bays in the world together with a unique style of architecture dating back to the 1800’s.
  • Didgeridoo lessons – learn how to play the world’s oldest wind instrument like a native.

Homestay Accommodation

Homestay accommodation is major part of the Study Tour experience and we place great importance on placing students with families we feel are compatible.  Kicky Tours staff personally visit all homestay families before placing students to ensure that the host families provide quality accommodation.  All our host families have police clearances to ensure that all students are placed in a safe and comfortable environment.

Homestay accommodation offers great value for money and also lets students experience Australia’s lifestyle first-hand.  Additionally, as all host families speak English at home, it offers students the opportunity to practice their English in everyday situations.

If you have requested single placement then we will guarantee that there is no-one staying with the host family that speaks the same language as your group.

The host families provide students with a friendly environment where they can relax, enjoy television, conversation and excellent meals.

If a student becomes unhappy with their host family, we will do what it can to resolve the issue in consultation with the student, host family and tour chaperone.  Should we not be able to resolve the issue, we will find the student a new host family.

The host families will help students with the day to day challenges of living in a foreign country such as interpreting bus timetables or undertaking banking or shopping.  We make every effort to minimise students’ travel time and most homestay families are located within 40-50 minutes bus or train ride of the College.
